Biography of Dr Geoffrey VanderPal

Before starting Elite Financial Planning Group of America, Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada; an independent financial and investment advisory practice, he spent 10 years working for Citibank/Citicorp Investment Services, Inc. and First Union Securities, Inc. in several senior financial planning and investment advisory positions. At the age of 25 he created and later sold a mutual fund company that was founded with an innovative balanced portfolio methodology providing risk reduction to investors. Geoffrey also served for a period of time as a consultant and Chief Investment Officer of the Treasury department for a successful technology and media firm.

Dr. VanderPal personally holds advanced certifications and degrees that lend to his experience. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in business with majors in finance, marketing and management from Columbia College and his Masters of Business Administration from Webster University. Dr. VanderPal in early 2006, earned a Doctorate degree in Finance and Business Administration (with Honors) from Nova Southeastern University while completing a dissertation researching various hedging strategies and risk/adjusted return analysis methods based upon equity index investing. He maintains the Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, Certified Fund Specialist, Certified Treasury Professional and Registered Financial Consultant designations, requiring thousands of hours of studying and preparation culminating into extensive examinations.

Dr. VanderPal completed the Certification in Financial Planning from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. VanderPal is a supervisory principal and obtained seven securities and five insurance licenses; and as the most credentialed financial advisor in Nevada, has worked with thousands of individuals and families during the past fifteen years. As a noted public lecturer, Geoffrey has spoken about financial matters to community groups, civic and business organizations. Dr. VanderPal was named in 2005 & 2006 by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, as, “America’s Best Financial Planners.” Dr. VanderPal was also named "Top Financial Planner" by Las Vegas Business Press in 2006 and a "Five Star Wealth Manager, Best in Client Satisfaction” by Las Vegas Life Magazine in 2007. In April of 2008, Dr. VanderPal was awarded the highest honor by the State of Kentucky and commissioned a “Kentucky Colonel” by the Governor of Kentucky.

He is also appointed as an adjunct Finance Professor with several Universities. Professor VanderPal has the honor to serve as a securities Arbitrator with the National Association of Securities Dealers and the New York Stock Exchange, now FINRA. He was the past President (2004/05) of the Financial Planning Association of Southern Nevada and a member of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants, Las Vegas World Affairs Council, Nevada Consular Corps and Nevada Committee on Foreign Relations. Dr. VanderPal has been quoted or featured in Millionaire Magazine, Mutual Fund Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Northwest Herald, Nevada Business Journal, Journal of Financial Planning, Smart Money and other publications including television.

On a personal note, Dr. VanderPal ran for Village President of his home town at age 19 and was later elected at the age of 21 as Village Trustee for the Village of Cary in Illinois. He created and later patented a voice recording alarm clock before graduating high school and was listed as a Who’s Who of American Inventors recipient in 1998. In his spare time, Geoffrey actively travels the globe studying culture and business and has been to over 30 countries during his travels. Dr. VanderPal is the Honorary Consul (diplomatic appointment) for the Slovak Republic, an EU member nation, with the Consular jurisdiction of Nevada and Arizona.
